Since the dawn of man's history HYSSOP has been used in more ways than any other herb. It was
used to cleanse and purify humans and sacred places and came to be the symbol of cleansing

"I thirst", put to his lips were HYSSOP and vinegar. (John 19:29)

Tibetan priests offered HYSSOP to their deities during sacred services, and Persians used a
concoction of HYSSOP as a lotion to help give a fine color to the skin. Pliny remarked on its
effect on one's mind and taste, and the Indians used it to benefit cavities and the tissues of
the body while alleviating bruises and soothing cuts and wounds.

Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, used it. Culpepper recommended it as an "Inflammation wash", to take away black and blue marks, as an expectorant of tough phlegm and a respiration aid. Discorides and Joseph Miller recommended it and Bankes Herbal speaks of its various beneficial uses.

Certain herbalists hold that HYSSOP will help promote digestion and it is also said to have
a tonic effect on the blood. Being a vegetable herb, HYSSOP is now served by many chefs in our
